V's 007 resolutions:
Help W eat more vegetables
Help W work out more
Help W sleep more
Help W paint outside exterior
Help W pave the driveway
Help W take his vitamins
JUST KIDDING, sort of...
ok, here are some of my 007 resolutions:
slow down and chew my food more
don't have to finish eating everything in front of me
don't have to always finish W's foods
don't feel guilty about throwing unfinished foods away
pray with more intensity
sightplay new music on the piano a few times a month
save up for big purchases
let someone pull out in front of me while I'm out driving
not using my cell phone while driving
wear more colorful combos
be more patient, loving & Christlike to my father
watch a full b-ball game here & there with W
soak in more sun
be more encouraging to my students
learn to deliver jokes like W
stay in better touch with friends
be a faithful steward of what God has entrusted us with and live everyday without regrets

you can pray for me and help keep me accountable in all these areas

p.s., i said learn to deliver jokes, not learn to tell jokes - there's a difference!

Happiest New 2007 Everyone!

William & I fasted together New Year's Eve.
We also cut our hair... Wow! I've been cutting William's hair on/off since 1990. Decided to give myself bangs too.
Sam & Jon came with us to Calvary Church for open communion. Afterwards we break fast together with a nice homemade meal by Master Chef Wu.

Around 9PM, a bunch of friends came over. Unfortunately, Sam was sick and left early to play WoW...  I mean, to rest.
Guitar Heroes I & II was our entertainment for majority of the night.
We also had the Choi brothers: Dave/John/Paul, Andrew & Sam over New Year's night to watch a disappointing Rose Bowl game...  but Boise highlights were quite amazing - especially since I'm not even a football fan!

On top of making us look bad,
K Shan had to leave early and bring pants for someone somewhere...

Master Chef Wu can always whip us something yummy at the last second...  In this case, our left overs looked good still.

the saga of Guitar Hero begins...  I tried to capture all the possible combos:

I must say, my guitar playing sounded a lot like a choir of donkeys.  Gee, I only recognize 3 heavy rock/metal tunes...  where have I've been.
I'm glad Lawrence always recap what we attempted to play after each song!

My new year resolution:  I will not make fun of you game freaks as much from 2007 on!  And of course, who keeps their New Year Resolutions for more than 2 months?
I need real black notes!!!

At 11:30PM we started writing down our 2006 TOP 10 List.
Took a 5 second break and popped sparkling confetti to ring in the new year: 3, 2...

1.  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Then we shared our 2006 Top 10 List... quite a few lap top purchases!
Can't believe everyone's done with college and onto work or graduate school.

We also shared some prayer requests for 2007 and prayed for one another.

More Guitar Hero, here's a glimpse into Denny's world of Maple Story:

circa 3:30AM
these guys are truly Guitar Heroes.

Vivian's TOP 10 for 2006:
Note: I always have more than 10, and since Lawrence started the trend of honorable mentions, well, that's perfect for me:
Honorable mention:  get togethers with the Echiverri family:  graduation party, downtown condo overnight, Henry's 50 b-day bash - that's where we took our Christmas picture next to a beautiful tree.

10. 4 piano recitals for my students - making DVDs for them
 9.  my father's successful quadruple bypass surgery in Taiwan
 8.  SS card w/ correct name changes and b-date...  & applying for my very first US passport ever!  This is really for Steve Yen's wedding!

 7.  God blessing us with various special deals, discounts, free shipping deals & rebates.  Hey, they add up!  Free Health Rider from one of my piano student's family.
 6.  Health related:
a.  learning more about gardening, new grow beds, composter & harvesting our own fresh veggies and herbs
b.  new way of eating:  separating carbs & protein, fruit alone...  better digestion
c. because of a bad car accident - getting regular treatments from Cammisa Chiropractic - including massages, adjustments, posture exercises, good vitamin regime

 5.  our Annual Christmas Open House with about 60 friends over.
 4.  6 weddings!  Last one being in Hawaii - hanging w/ old school & Jess.  Tasting the sweetest mango ever existed!  Romy's fresh shrimp. Makino Chaya.  Ooo, I would be fat and broke if we live in Hawaii!
 3.  Special friends visiting: Steve & Joanne from Toronto, Debby Fung from Maryland, Joseph & Theresa Tsang from NYC, Wes & Christa & Hanna Quimby from MI, Carl & Theresa Cho from Singapore, William's uncle & aunt from NYC, Vivian's childhood youth leaders Wen & Emily Hsieh.
 2.  Household changes - mainly because of the bad car accident, instead of purchasing another vehicle, we bought my dream grand piano and prep the house so I can teach out of it: new
colorful music themed area rugs, William painted first floor.  Did a semi-clean sweep.  Donated a couple of truckloads to Salvation Army.  Discovering that our Carbon Monoxide detector is the culprit beeper in the last 2 years!!!  We kept thinking it's our fire alarm.  DUH!  Can't believe I lost sleep over that for so many nights!
 1.  Fast regularly.  So blessed and honored that God would use my hunger and listen to my pleads and pour out His amazing grace...  and that God has also called out a small army together taking 12 hours shifts covering every day of the week.  Only eternity will we be able to see the fullness of what this  act of obedience has accomplish. =)

Broiled Pork Tenderloin
Penne Pasta with creamy sun-dried tomato sauce
Baked Sweet Potato Wedges
*Meatballs
*cocktail shrimp
*Veggie Dip
*Deli Spirals
*Mixed Fruit
*Macadamia Nuts
*Raspberry Kiwi fruit punch

other contributions:
homemade cookies from scratch by grandma Shirley Moffett, one of Vivian's piano student
limited edition of homemade fig cookies by the Carroll family, also Vivian's piano student
Ed Hsu's chips / pop
Lawrence Chen's cocktail shrimp
Joe Wu's egg nog

so you can plan to bring something that may or may not compliment these dishes (see other contributions of what other folks are bringing)...
we don't serve alcohol mainly because we don't drink (William does cook with it) AND we can't afford it AND we're clueless what's good
AND there are a lot of kids around AND...
but we always manage to have a wonderfully, fun-filled, memorable time without it
having said that, if you like to bring your own and share with other adults - you may
just remember, William works for the DuPage State's Attorney's Office - and you really don't want to see him again the next morning!

*store bought ready foods but it passes William's strick standards

Note:  William reserves the right to change the menu last minute if the ingredients he needs are not up to his standards.
